16th Annual Interfaith Iftar Dinner

Muslims, locally and globally, prepare to start Ramadan — Press Release

West Chester, OH: The Islamic blessed month of Ramadan starts with the sunset Sunday night, May 5th, and a special night prayer. Muslims throughout the world observe a total fast from dawn till sunset during Ramadan, starting May 6th and fasting through June 3rd, with the Eid al-Fitr holiday being on Tuesday June 4th. They strive to renew themselves spiritually, with added emphasis on prayers, recitation of the Holy Qur'an, sharing Iftar (end of the fast) meals as a community and providing charity to the needy. A special food drive titled Sharing the Spirit of Ramadan, Ramadan Coupons for groceries and many serving of Iftar meals at various locations are orchestrated throughout the month to serve and support those in need in our Greater Cincinnati regional community. The Islamic Center's Rahma Social Services group will also be hosting a Donation & Free Shopping Day to help in preparation for Ramadan and the Eid holiday.
