Endless Forms Most Beautiful: Biodiversity, the Glory of God, and Care for Our Common Home

  • Xavier University -Schmidt Hall Conation

Presentation by Dr. Elizabeth Groppe

'Pope Francis' encyclical Laudato SI': On care for our common Home is inspired by Saint fancies' insight that all creatures give praise to God. Charles Darwin, for his part, was struck by the beauty and vast diversity of the "endless forms most beautiful" that have evolved on Earth. This workshop will bring Francis' theological vision of creation into conversation with evolutionary science, discuss the mass extinctions of species now being precipitated by human activity, and invite participants to reflect together on practices and policies that care for the creatures with whom we share a common home.'
